Cobwebs, cobwebs. I just blew a few binary ones off the wordpress admin panel. Same old story, been busy, y’know.
Now, to summarise the last three months or so in a couple of spare hours on a weekday eve. This could be random, and possibly incomprehensible, to me also, but here goes.
Fleet Foxes: album – interesting, possbly great (i’m listing to it now). Seattle:Â a great city, I wish we could move there (many Americans are actually lucky, despite the State controlled media); M83 were brilliant. New Flat: haven’t moved in yet – eccentric landlady. Weather: Warmer – Spring has passed, but it lasted 4 months and must say, the Rhodendrons were quite magnificent, don’t you think Reginald? (Reg agrees). Trip to Pender Island with Kiwi chums (the “Bender on Pender”) – fully loaded cabin, view of the ocean, celery-hating tame deer, tricked out hot tub, and 27 bird houses … i should mention the mind altering disc-golf course, down the road, and frisbee on a baseball diamond (plus beers in the dugout). Fulltime job offers and contract extensions for the both of us, respectively, if you would perfer me to use the word “respectively”. We bought new bread board and i saw a bald eagle up close (on the same day!) and we recently discovered Schneiders Smokies – so bad, yet so tasty.
I’m just going to make a fizzy drink, so hang on a sec …
The longest day is coming up – it’s light till 10, and i’m generaly awake at 5.30 after the sun has risen. That means lots of malarky after work, and Canadians pack it in over the sumer months, before they curl up in front of an oil-burning furnace vent for the “dark times” and watch movies. So, it’s all go here. I’ve plucked up the courage to buy a bike, and Laura is presently in Las Vegas on a Work trip, staying in Trump Towers, a building which is apparently shaped like a massive gold ingot shoved in to the ground.
The race for the Democratic Nomination has been pretty interesting. Basically Hillary hammered the last nail into her campaign coffin, with her forehead, by mentioning “Obama” and “Robert Kennedy” in the same sentence. Not good form, because that’s what everybody is thinking. Strangely, I’m guessing she’ll be VP, and together they’ll kick republican ass, and finally low income americans will be able to afford healthcare – as long as they can pay for the gas to get to the clinic. A raft of impeachment articles against Bush have been introduced to congress – maybe if Bill Clinton can get a slap on the hand for lying about his sex life, then misleading the world about Iraq might receive a detention.
Back to Seattle. Funny story about that. Before we left, I said to Laura “I bet we’ll run into Flight of the Conchords, when we’re there.” (they were playing at the Sasquatch Festival, just out of the city. It turned out to be one of the most uncannily accurate predictions i have ever made, since the time i said that our numbers were up and it was time to buy a lotto ticket, and our numbers actually did come up, but we got the combinations wrong (the chances were about the same of meeting the FOTC). Well, kind of. If we hadn’t been so surprised and awestruck by their rock star facial hair and the silent entourage orbiting them. They kind of came out of the sun as well, and i think that guy with a tray of fudge offering free samples (Germaine had definitely sampled some) put a wierd spin on things. Starstruck, we debated catching up to them, but by then they had disappeared into a doorway down the street.
Anyway, it’s not all glitz and glamour. Cheese is expensive, although at least it has been dyed orange (to make it appear more orange i presume) so that’s a huge bonus, but it’s kind of offset by the light switches, which are upside down and makes working out whether the light is on or off very tricky.
Anyway, i’m going to let this wee pigeon fly tonight, so if you want to check out some snaps, visit the bradnlala flikr page . Till next time, sleep well.
